Monthly Tips
September 2024
TIP 1 Labor Day
For many, Labor Day marked the unofficial end to summer and was a nice time to celebrate the hard workers of America. For the National Sausage and Hot Dog Council, it means the end of peak hot dog season. Here’s a fun factoid to share if you were grilling on Labor Day from them. Americans eat a total of 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day. That’s 818 hot dogs every second.
We hope everyone had a great summer and look forward to all the fun activities of fall!

TIP 2 Real ID
Do you have a white star on a gold circle background on your license? It’s not just marks for good behavior; it shows that you have a Real ID. Federal standards for IDs were enacted in 2005, following a recommendation by the 9/11 Commission. A Real ID or a passport is going to be required to pass through a TSA checkpoint, for example. Implementation has been postponed several times, to give states time to adapt to the new requirements. The new deadline for having a Real ID is May 7, 2025. Given potential issues and wait times at the DMV, you may want to go ahead and get it taken care of now. The required documentation is substantial. Here’s a link to the New Jersey website and Pennsylvania website for setting up appointments and for learning what you’ll need to bring.

TIP 3 Fall Equinox
Labor day may have been the unofficial end of summer, but we are now approaching the official end with the Fall Equinox. The Fall equinox (mid-point between the summer and winter solstices) is on September 22nd, and that suggests starting to be on the lookout for the beautiful changing leaves. However, the peak colors may not arrive until a week or two later depending on where you are in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Here is a fun fact to share on the 22nd – on the autumnal equinox, sunset and sunrise are exactly 12 hours apart.
