TIP 1 Movie Theatres May Be Coming Back
The entertainment landscape is changing, and we’ve seen some remarkable shifts as well. Efforts to adapt to the crisis may end up turning into the “new normal.” On a positive note and throwback to an earlier entertainment culture, pop-up drive-in movie theatres have been appearing in New Jersey, and social distancing is being followed not only for people, but cars as well. Once movie theaters fully reopen, they may need to contend with new habits in order to get their audience back.

TIP 2 Short Term Recovery, Long Term Planning Opportunity
Benjamin Graham, to many seen as the “father of value investing,” said: “In the short run, the market is a voting machine, but in the long run it is a weighing machine.”
On January 2nd 2020, the S&P 500 index was at an all-time high at 3,257.90. On March 23, 2020, the intraday low for the S&P 500 was 2,191.86. At the end of May, it went back above 3000.
This rollercoaster of volatility reflects the investor reaction to unknowns and then knowns of the coronavirus pandemic. We are in a different situation now, even if investors seem more optimistic. The underlying value of the companies themselves may need to be “weighed” again, given how deeply the crisis has changed behavior, tax needs, and economic opportunities.

TIP 3 Summer
The summer solstice, the longest day of the year, is coming up on June 20th. Mid-summer cultural celebrations centered around it occur all over the world, often to celebrate fertility.
Many of these celebrations may need to be adjusted because of COVID-19, but hopefully the warm summer weather will deter the virus’ ability to, which gives us one more reason to celebrate.
What are you going to do with your additional almost 6 hours of additional daylight compared to December?
